Scania Latvia Service centre client registration system

Upgrading and integrating customer registration and gate access systems helps optimise resources, increases security and improves customer experience.

ABOUT SCANIA

Scania is one of the leading manufacturers of trucks and buses as well as industrial and marine engines. Research and development work is carried out in Sweden, but production takes place in Europe and South America.

SUMMARY

For over 20 years Scania Latvia has been providing customers with new and used trucks, financing services, and has had repair and maintenance centres in Riga, Valmiera, Daugavpils and Liepaja. The existing customer registration arrangements and ticket systems have not been able to ensure the necessary security levels for accessing the service area.

CHALLENGES

The aim of the project has been to integrate two independent management systems – Milestone, for vehicle identification, and the Scania service management system. Datakom IT specialists, highly skilled in programming and system integration, were able to develop a successful solution tailored to the needs of Scania Latvia.

AXIS Q1615-E Mk II cameras and Milestone XProtect Express license plate recognition management systems were chosen to ensure the most accurate vehicle identification.

HOW PRODUCTS HELPED

As the solution has been implemented it is now possible to conveniently and efficiently control vehicle flow, optimise labour force resources, ensure efficient access for customers and increase security on Scania Latvia territory (the previous ticket system allowed entering and leaving the area multiple times). During the implementation process two lightning poles were installed at the entrance and exit, as well as two high sensitivity cameras which are capable of simultaneously reading the license plate numbers for both vehicles – the truck and the trailer.
