The supply chain is getting smarter; ELKO launches dropshipping service

Pain issues with global logistics force the IT and consumer electronics supply industry to become more efficient. Distributor ELKO has just launched dropshipping service in the Baltics and Poland, promising a reduced number of transshipments, skipped repackaging on the retailer's side and faster deliveries.
Thanks to a technological upgrade in the IT and consumer electronics supply industry, it is now possible to push out unnecessary activities, becoming more sustainable and efficient.
“Expansion of parcel terminals network reduces the demand to visit a store. Virtual stock integrations via advanced API technology between partners no longer require large inventories to be maintained by the retailer. In these circumstances, B2C deliveries to parcel stations or so-called dropshipping as a service to resellers is a natural step to take. What’s important - the market and partners are ready to assess it,” Andrejs Gavrilovs, Sales Office Director of ELKO in the Baltics and Poland explains the objectives of the new service provided.
ELKO, at the moment, in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland is partnering with DPD, using their pickup points, automated parcel terminals and courier service. In talks with other service providers to improve the availability and accessibility of the service.
"Every year, both in the business customer and retail segment, there is a growing demand for parcel delivery via automated parcel terminals or Parcel Lockers. DPD studies show that 75% of regular e-shoppers choose to receive their parcel at Parcel Locker. This service fits perfectly into today's dynamic, as it provides an opportunity to receive the package at the most convenient time for the customer. We are pleased with the extensive network that we have created - there are already 58,000 DPD Pickup points in Europe. Receiving parcels in the Pickup network is also environmentally friendly, as it allows us to deliver parcels to several recipients to a single address," points out Jānis Grants, Chairman of the Board of DPD Latvija.
