ELKO Conference MeetUP 2019: successful business requires technologies and reliable partner relations
On 24 May, the ELKO MeetUP 2019 technology conference was held, which brought together this year more than 250 cooperation partners, customers and IT trade industry representatives from the Baltic region and Poland.
The conference's motto Better together reflects the importance of strengthening cooperation and humane relations – technologies are the driving force, while successful development and excellent business results also require reliable partner relations.
Opening the conference, ELKO Baltic Product and Trade Director Mārtiņš Pavlovskis emphasized: “We work in a very dynamic business environment, therefore, cooperation between ELKO and partner companies plays a particularly important role – delivering the latest technologies from production to the end-consumer as cheap as possible and within the shortest possible time. Innovations are essential in creating an efficient business environment, but everything is based upon people and mutual relations. Entrepreneurship is about trust, support and creating a mutually beneficial business story. Our annual ELKO MeetUP event gives the opportunity to establish business contacts, open doors to untired possibilities, as well as share stories of success”.
The role of humane relations in the increasingly robotized era was also highlighted by ELKO Human Resources and Administration Director Ieva Orinska, who concluded that “Both humans and robots have their own advantages and limitations, but I believe that both will be able to coexist and work together”.
At the H2O6 Expo Centre, the event attendees were able to view and try the latest products from more than 40 leading IT industry producers, as well as ask the manufacturers' representatives questions. The opportunity for all representatives of the sales chain to meet in one place helps create a common vision and in-depth understanding of products and the market in general. It was possible to hear about current events of the leading IT producers – Dell, LG, ASUS, MSI, Intel, Seagate, Acer, Renewd, ViewSonic – and presentations of novelties in product ranges.
Within the framework of ELKO MeetUP 2019, attendees had the opportunity to listen to inspiring speeches of ELKO specialists and representatives of related industries. Andrejs Gavrilovs (ELKO Baltic Trade Director) outlined 10 practical tips for efficient time planning, Irina Lando (Training Centre Lando) gave advice on conducting negotiations, Oskars Klucis (ELKO Digital Marketing Manager) provided recommendations in digital marketing for successful business activity in the Internet, while Salvis Praude (Microsoft Retail and Product Distribution Manager in the Baltics) reminded to check condition of devices and software, in order to not become a data leakage victim and to comply with the provisions of the European General Data Regulation.
Mārtiņš Bērziņš (Head of Citadele Bank E-Business Department) noted in his speech: “Currently, 96% of all payments in Citadele Bank are made using digital channels, number of payments in mobile applications is also growing rapidly. We forecast frequency of using mobile applications will increase twice in one year. In the payment sector, the future is based upon remote identification and personalized services. More than 50% of payments in Citadele are already instant or flash payments, people use contactless cards, and by 2021 more than 50% of European cards will be contactless. Habits are changing, and dealers must focus on changing the shopping and payment experience – moving away from physical cash registers, considering storing receipts in clouds, allowing for payments using wearable technologies”.
Throughout the day, attendees were able to enjoy bright shows, try themselves in virtual reality activities, logic games and other exciting entertainments.
Event supported by Acer, ASRock, AOC, ASUS, Clean Air Optima, Dahua, Dell EMC, EATON, Getac, LG, Microsoft, MSI, Renewd, Seagate, Philips, Thermaltake, Tom, TP-Link, ViewSonic, Xilence, Blackview, Chieftec, Fellowers, Fujifilm, IMOU, PocketBook, Transcend.
