In the „6 Hours of Riga” speed boat endurance race that took place on the river Daugava in Riga on Saturday, the team from Latvia’s largest enterprise, Elko Grupa Joint Stock Company „ELKO Racing Team” took the first place in category 3. It means that „ELKO Racing Team” is in the second place in the overall standings of the European Championship.
Fifteen teams from around Europe competed in the six-hour long endurance race for inflatable boats with suspended engines, or RIB-type boats, on 9 August. The teams started in five different categories. “ELKO Racing Team” won a victory in category 3, completing the distance of almost 500 kilometres on the river Daugava or 222 race laps. One of the team’s pilots was Stanislavs Matvejevs, a member of ELKO Group’s board.
To raise the spirits of the team, ELKO Group, with support from its partners Acer and Samsung, arranged a special „ELKO Racing Team” fan event during the competition. Around 200 of ELKO Group’s friends and partners joined the event to support the team – they encouraged and supported the participants of the competition throughout the event. When the competition was completed, the team thanked its supporters and acknowledged that their presence and the atmosphere it created had contributed greatly to the results they achieved.
Another team supported by ELKO Group - „Akvashelf ELKO” – also participated in the endurance race, taking the fourth place in category 3 after completing 211 laps or almost 470 kilometres.
