Alexander Yamnitsky, board member of the ELKO Group, has become one of the 25 “Best Russian IT company managers”

03.09.2008

It is for the fourth time now that the editorial board CRN/RE and “СК Пресс” publishing house (see the previous results in № 7/2001 (year 2001),  № 15/2003 (2003), and № 17/2006 (2006) have summed up the results of the “Best Russian IT company managers” project, publishing the names of the most successful and effective business managers. This year, the evaluation was aimed at business qualities that the heads of companies had demonstrated in 2006–2007, as well as at the business results achieved in this period.
To choose the 25 winners, the editors were using the expert evaluation method. The group of experts included the heads of the Russian representative offices of the leading foreign IT companies, heads of analytical companies, editors and publisher CRN/RE, as well as the heads of companies that had been at the top of our rating for three times (13 persons). They were excluded from the list of candidates and included in the expert committee. Besides, the editorial board offered the heads of the regional IT company association to act as experts in the project. Thus, the expert group of our rating included 49 specialists this year. The survey was carried out in the spring of 2008.
The experts were offered the preliminary list of 172 managers of the leading Russian IT companies. From the mentioned list, the experts had to choose no more than 25 candidates who, in the experts’ opinion, deserved to win. The list could be complemented by adding other candidates. The 25 candidates who collected most of the experts’ votes have become the winners of our rating.
Experts assessed the business qualities of the winners and the achievements of the companies under their direction in 2006-2007 according to five criteria: 1) position of the company on the market, the dynamics of business development; 2) the winner’s individual endowment in the achievements of the company; 3) leadership qualities; 4) personal reputation; 5) business intuition.
Alexander Yamnitsky entered the top 10 in the nominations of “Personal endowment in the development of the company” and “Leadership qualities”.
According to the experts, Alexander entered the “top 25 of the best Russian IT-companies managers” owing to his acute commercial feeling of where the money can be made, his personal charisma, and his talent for working with business partners.
Besides, “Alexander Yamnitsky is a reliable partner who always makes well-balanced decisions and has inexhaustible sense of humour, with which he helps his colleagues in their hour of need”, adds Dmitry Konash, regional director of Intel in the CIS countries.
At the same time, Dmitry Konarsky, Conica Minolta channel development director in Russia and the CIS, explains his vote in favour of this nominee the following way: “Alexander Yamnitsky is the director and a co-owner of a company that is known for its decency – a quality that is highly evaluated in any business, and especially in the IT field. This leader has strong charisma combined with a management style known as “Management by Heart” that I particularly favour. In my opinion, he is a very positive gentleman”.
